Letter to Jamal

Dear Jamal,

Being here at UCF has been great, I have made a lot of friends and had a lot of good times. But I have also encountered a few things that UCF could improve on. There are 52,000 students attending UCF yet in the student union, where the majority of people go to eat lunch, there are only around 200 seats. This for me and for many other students is a huge problem. I in particular get to campus around 12:30, which happens to be right smack dab in the middle of the lunch rush. Since I am in a fraternity I normally will eat with 2 to 6 guys maybe even more, if I am lucky when I get there someone will already have grabbed a table. Although on most days this is not the case, normally we will get in there get our lunch and then look around and not see a table unoccupied in sight. This has been a problem ever since I have attended UCF last fall and in speaking with some of my friends it’s been going on even longer than that. So we have to wait for someone to get up and then the mad dash begins to get to the open table. The funny thing is there will be at least ten tables that have one student sitting at them, so instead of four people at that table there is only one. The question then becomes how come there are no tables specifically for single or doubles? The answer maybe UCF thinks that people would share the seats, but this does not happen. The thing is Lindsey it is not just the seating in the union its everywhere you look, there is not enough parking nor is there enough seating in the library. UCF Is now the third largest school in the United States and the administration has done nothing to expand. If this trend keeps up there will be very unhappy students at UCF…well more unhappy students at UCF.

Sincerely,
Shaun
